Take your public speaking skills to new heights. Learn tips on boosting your confidence and delivering memorable and engaging presentations. Leading the discussion will be alumna Patricia Jones.

Patricia Jones is an executive advisor, speaker, consultant, and thought leader who specializes in business transformation. She has spent over 20+ years working on improving the business, technology, and people aspects of organizations such as Bank Of America, Merrill Lynch, Kemper Insurance & Financial Services, Kraft Foods, Nestle, Exelon, Accenture, Rush University Medical Center, and many others. Her areas of expertise range from large scale change, organizational effectiveness, merger integration and cultural change. She began her career in business, understanding the ins and outs of big organizational goals, and how to achieve these goals through operational means. Her journey then progressed into the linking of technology and business, where she developed an understanding of the importance of technology and its changing role in business. At Accenture, she held multiple leadership positions and was responsible for leading client engagement teams as well as developing the Global Strategy & Human Performance consulting practice. She obtained her undergrad degree from DePaul University’s School for New Learning.

Is entrepreneurship right for you?  At this ASK breakfast, Dr. Terri Lonier, Executive Director of DePaul University’s Coleman Entrepreneurship Center, will guide you through the five key questions to ask yourself, and how to begin putting the pieces together.  Join us for a lively, interactive session and discover how to take the first steps toward starting your own company.  Dr. Lonier is recognized as one of the country’s leading experts on microbusiness. The author of five business books, she has served as a strategic advisor for companies such as Apple, Microsoft, HP, Bank of America and Visa. She received her PhD in Business History from NYU, and is the Executive Director of the Coleman Entrepreneurship Center at DePaul University in Chicago. Her work brings together her training in art and design (BFA, MFA), her deep experience with digital technology, and her interest in the impact of visual culture on business management and strategy.

DePaul's Office of Veterans' Affairs has teamed up with Alumni Sharing Knowledge (ASK) and the Office of Alumni Relations to host a career panel of alumni who are veterans.  Guest professionals will discuss their career paths and share tips on how to market transferable skills from military service.  Meet the speakers for open networking before and after the panel.  Open to DePaul students who are veterans.

Specifically scheduled before and during the Just in Time Job Fair on the same day, attendees will work on perfecting their introduction to employers. You will leave knowing exactly what to say when an employer says, "Tell me about yourself." Registration ended but walk-ins are welcome.

”Students and alumni, join us in this month’s networking session as we discuss business etiquette and professional communication. Hear common mistakes that young professionals make so that you can avoid them in your current or future job.



Leading the discussion will be ASK mentor Carol Semrad, SPHR. Carol is the principal of C. Semrad & Associates and is a highly seasoned Human Resources professional with 20+ years of experience. She is P&L oriented and has worked directly with presidents and chairmen in taking companies like Learning Curve International from their infancy to +$100M in sales. Carol has worked on mergers and acquisitions, such as Performics and Doubleclick and is expert at integrating organizations and creating alignment within newly combined businesses.



Carol is a graduate of DePaul University’s School for New Learning and is known for her ability to work with people at all levels of an organization, allowing her to influence behaviors from the board room to the lunchroom. Carol is also on the board for DePaul’s Center to Advance Education for Adults and is the immediate past president of Society of Human Resource Professionals (SHRP), the largest chapter of Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) in Illinois.
