SHL Virtual Career Fair

Career Fair Flyer

DePaul's School of Hospitality Leadership career fair is taking place in January, 2021. As with previous years, the event is open to all students, regardless of school, university, or major. In many instances, alumni have also found the career fair to be of value.

The event will be held virtually on Friday, January 29, 2021. At the 2020 fair, nearly 100 firms were in attendance and we are excited to once again see high levels of company engagement this year in our virtual format.

Attendees can register, and see a continuously updated list of attending firms, by CLICKING HERE FOR REGISTRATION or scanning the QR code on the image.

Teams and mmhmm

An update to Microsoft Teams made back in July prevents mmhmm from being an option for video calls. From what I have read, rolling back the update will fix the problem temporally. Alternatively, macOS users can use the web version of Teams (https://teams.microsoft.com). The Safari browser will not support video calls in Teams, but Google Chrome works.

Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD)

Information Services is planning to launch Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD) as the primary Virtual Lab solution, eventually replacing Apporto. Apporto will still be available during the full Winter Quarter, but Information Services is planning to retire Apporto at the end of Winter Quarter. The decision to move away from Apporto was made due to support concerns and licensing constraints. Until it is retired Apporto will keep most applications, however all Microsoft products (e.g. Access, Project, and Visio) will be removed from Apporto due to licensing constraints.

An overview of the new Windows Virtual Desktop service, including access instructions and software titles available can be found here.
