The course schedule may vary depending on the events of the local community during the quarter in which the course is offered. The following schedule is tentative until the first week of class.

Week One: (Saturday, Sep 10, Meet at the Loop Campus)
Introduce the course, review the syllabus, and plan the trips. We will talk about using BlackBoard as a venue for in-depth discussions between classes together in person.

Assignments (Week 2 before the first trip):
Participate in BlackBoard discussions. In the introduction conference, talk about why you selected this course and what particularly intrigues you about the topic. Invite others to respond to what you write.
Post an initial annotated bibliography on BlackBoard and indicate two or three sources you think others may want to explore. Explain why.
Identify whether or not you're planning on working with one or more other students in the class to form a group.
Discuss on BlackBoard whether you will make the trip by auto or train and if you want company arrange travel together.
This BlackBoard discussion group will last the entire course and should be revisited with some regularity, say once or twice a week.
