Evidence of learning will be submitted in a portfolio. Every student selects four (4) of the following activities:

  • Interview two persons about the theme you choose for your portfolio working from a structured interview document that is developed and approved in advance of the interview.
  • Analyze two or three aspects of your inquiry balancing all sides of the issues.
  • Create or gather drawings, photographs, and/or artifacts that you put together in a scrapbook with narrative about their connections to the topic.
  • Offer justice alternatives to oppression that change and/or reclaim outcomes from the perspectives of who benefit and who doesn't from the alternatives proposed.
  • Prepare a video or an audio tape that develops/explains the learning pursuit, its perspectives, and its effects.
  • Prepare a Web site that articulates the findings of the research.
  • A different option than the ones outlined here that you want to develop as evidence of competence.

While a portfolio will be submitted by all students, parts of the work may presented orally, on the Internet, through video production, and/or other graphical formats as you choose.

Freedom Church listed on the US Park Service Historic Sites.

The course will use a portfolio of evidence for competence that will vary depending on what competences you choose.
