Project Scope: Students may work individually or in pairs or small groups to develop a portfolio on the competencies they have selected for the course. Groups and pairs must be identified by the end of the second week of class and need the approval of the instructor

Portfolio Approach

Every student will:

  • Design their portfolio to be consistent with the competences chosen at registration.
  • Prepare an annotated bibliography by week two (15 to 20 sources that are both general--relating to issues consistent with the topic of the course and the competences selected).
  • Write a working introduction by week four (two or three pages) to the portfolio that may change after the collection of more information, by reading the sources, traveling, using the Internet, interviewing, volunteering, etc. These pages need to outline how the person or group intends to research the topics that lead to competence and what the learners hope to learn after the research.
  • Participate in BlackBoard discussions as assigned.
