the material in Chapter 2, section 2.4.

- Reminder:
If you have not submitted Project #1 please do so by start of class on
Wednesday,
5/16.
Project #1 will not be accepted after this due date and time.
- Quiz #4 will be on Wed 5/16. It will be on
the material in Chapter 2, sections 2.2 and 2.3. Work problems 2, 3 and 4
on page 88 as well as problems 2 and 3 on page 94.
- No quiz on Wed, 5/9. The next quiz will be on Wed, 5/16.
- Reminder: The midterm
tutorial will be on Monday, 4/30 at 4:00pm - 5:00pm.
Given
constraints on room availability the tutorial will be in our classroom. We will
discuss quiz #3 between 3:30 and 3:55. The tutorial is optional and
is intended for students who would like extra help preparing for
the exam.

MIDTERM: Wednesday, 5/2
- Two's complement and excess notation practice
problems and
solutions for quiz #3 are available. Try
at
least two from each question in addition to floating point problems #1 and
#2 on page 59.
- Quiz #3 will be on Wednesday, 4/25. It
will be on excess notation, two's complement notation, and floating-point
notation.

will be on converting decimal to hexadecimal,
hexadecimal to binary, and binary to hexadecimal. You should also be familiar
with scientific notation. See the lecture notes for week
# 2 (it has been updated to include the
material covered in class on Wed, 4/11). Also, review page 24 of
the text (hexadecimal
notation) and work problems 5-6 on page 26.
- Quiz #1 will be on Wednesday, 4/11. It
will be on the material in Chapter 1;
section 1.4,
pages 38 - 42 (ignore the section on Representing Images)
see problems 5-7; section 1.5, see problems 1-5. Also, review
Hexadecimal Notation as discussed in class. See the lecture notes for

# 2.
