Format

The final is comprehensive so you should review the lecture notes, all quizzes, homework assignments, and the midterm. Check the midterm review if you need practice on the material covered up to the midterm.

Calculators may be used. Appendix A and Appendix C from your text will be provided.

Ninety minutes will be allocated but it is possible to complete all questions in about sixty minutes. As for the midterm, the exam will be divided into two sections.

• Computational section:

  This section will be similar to our quizzes.

• Descriptive section:

  This section will involve writing short descriptions of terminology from the readings. You should be familiar with all terms, and phrases, presented in bold letters. You should be able to write short descriptions of the terms and phrases from the midterm list as well as this list. You should also be prepared to write a few sentences comparing related concepts.

Readings:

In addition to the midterm readings, you should be familiar with the following material.

• Chapter 2: Sections 2.1 - 2.4
• Chapter 4: Sections 4.1 - 4.2 (Note: Pseudocode notation from the lecture notes)
• Chapter 7: Sections 7.1

Make sure that you are able to work Quiz #6 practice problems (the solutions are available). In addition work problem 4 on page 95, problems 6, 11, 12 on page 99, and problems 1 and 3 on page 324.
