THE MAKEUP DEPARTMENT

The makeup program consists of a two-quarter required sequence for second-year actors and first-year costume design/tech majors. Other TTS students may elect to take the course.

In addition, the makeup program has recently added spring quarter advanced courses for those who have completed the beginning makeup sequence. There is also a spring quarter section required for all first-year costume design students.

The makeup program is run by faculty member Nan Zabriskie, who has designed makeup, costumes and sets for numerous productions throughout the country. A more detailed biography and information on Nan's current projects can be found here.

Students interested in putting their knowledge to use after completing the beginning makeup course also have the opportunity to become assistants in the makeup shop. Assistants perform TA functions during class time and learn advanced makeup and wig techniques assisting on Theatre School productions throughout the year.
