FACULTY: Nan Zabriskie

Bio: Nan has headed the Make-up program at The Theatre School for twenty years where she teaches all the actors and costume designers. Nan also implements hair and make-up for all Theatre School productions. She works in studios doing print work and trains actors to do specific make-up for productions at the Goodman Theatre, Steppenwolf and the Lyric Opera. As a member of USA LOCAL 829, Nan has designed costumes for the Goodman Theatre, The Colorado Shakespeare Festival, Shakespeare Repertory (now Chicago Shakespeare Theater), Court Theatre, Victory Gardens Theater, Northlight Theatre and the Chicago Symphony, among others. For eleven years, Nan served as Co-Artistic Director and designer for the Chicago Children's Theatre.

Nan's recent work includes four completed shows from December until the present date (Feb 5, 2005).

-Costume Design and Makeup Effects for Nick Whitby's "To the Greenfield's Beyond," currently running at Writers Theatre

-Set Design for Kraft Consumer Immersion of top 200 executives, Bellagio Hotel, Las Vegas

-Worked with former student Ted Rubenstein and Keith Whipple at the Institute for Therapy Through the Arts, helping 65 children aged eight through 15 put on a production of Guys and Dolls

-Costume Design for "Welcome Yule Christmas Show" at Orchestra Hall, featuring the Chicago Sympony Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Chorus, Children's choruses and eight professional dancers

THE FABULOUS ASSISTANTS: Makeup Shop assistants have completed the beginning makeup course sequence. They help Nan during class and work on productions when class is not in session. Some ventilate wigs, others learn advanced makeup techniques and work with prosthetics, some are in control of budget, and one even designs this very website.
