Part 1: (50pts) Your completed website.

This is it – the final results of everything you’ve been working on this quarter!
Everything that has been required for your personal website throughout the quarter will be required on this site; in addition, you will need to add two more something specials (i.e., other than what you did in Homework 5), which I leave up to you. Some examples might include a form (with validation), a slide show instead of a gallery, interesting JavaScript code, image map navigation, image swapping, etc. For more examples, with code and explainations, see Web features 1 and Web features 2. This should be a significant special, not just an interesting background image, for example.
Style: Make sure that your web pages present a clean, consistent style using CSS whenever possible. Aesthetics are not as important as clarity and ease of finding information.
Navigation: As with style, your navigation should be clear and consistent. Make sure that I can get from any page on your site to any page on your site with just one click. Don’t ever force your users to rely on the "back" button.
Content: Is your content consistent with the purpose and design of your site? Is it tasteful? (Or at least not offensive?) Are too many graphics (or graphics that are too large) making your pages load slowly? Is the information I want present?
Organization: Can I find what I want with minimal fuss? Is the relevant content on the relevant pages?

Part 2: (30pts) Your presentation:

You will have about 5 minutes to present your website to the class.
Provide a clear, concise introduction to your website.
Demonstrate all the features of your website in an orderly way – I will be evaluating your website as you present it, and if you miss something, I may not find it later.
Make sure to highlight what you did that was special – read again bullet number 2 above.
If you like, you can show source code that is well written or organized, style sheet that you are proud of, JavaScript that is elegant and efficient, etc. In other words, if there is something that you want us to see that is "behind the scenes", show it to us!
Be clear, confident and comprehensible in your presentation. Imagine that you are trying to sell this website!
Each of you will be given a unique number between 1 and 22 (generated randomly). Your number (P#) represents the order that you will present in, e.g., number 9 would be the 9th presentation. Look up and remember your presentation number in the Presentation Order Table.
Presentations will be on Thursday, June 2, 2011. Everyone must present on that day, and if you present out of order, 10 points will be deducted from your grade. Obviously, attendance of the entire class is required on June 2nd.

Part 3: (20pts) Your critique:

You will be required to make short notes on 3 of your classmates websites. The 3 websites you are to critique are given in the Presentation Order Table, under columns C1, C2, and C3.
At a minimum, you will provide, for each website, one thing you liked, one thing you would do differently (and how) and the one thing that you noticed the most about this site. (This could be a good thing or a bad thing – what would you remember about the site if you were asked about it in a week?).
Also provide at least a one paragraph critique of the presentation. Some questions to think about: Were you able to follow the presentation? Did it explain the website well? Did you get a good sense of the features and content of the site? Were colors used to good effect (background and foreground)? Good use of graphics - photos not too dominating. Was navigation consistent and easy to follow? Were tables or CSS positioning used to enhance page layout?
Print out 3 copies of critique.htm. Bring them with you to class and use them to do your evaluations of your assigned presentations.

What to submit:

Use COLweb to submit the URL to the homepage of your Final Project. It should look like this:

I must be able to view your updated website files form this page only so make sure your links are correct! Since this is just one line, please submit it in the comment box provided by the COLweb submission system.
Hand in your critiques at the end of the final project session. Remember that this is worth 20 points towards your final project grade! Your critiques should be legible, with each presentation and related comments clearly marked.
