Old
Town Butcher Shop, Wells St., 2000 |
|
Attempts to maintain the
neighborhood's Old Town charm were thwarted by the invasion of national
chains into the area. While some independent business like the Old
Town Butcher Shop were able to survive, many independent businesses, like
the former Lincoln Park Hotel, were replaced by large national chains catering
to the gentrified population.
