Objectives
1. Evaluate the prior week's protein concentration data to judge which method will be used to calculate specific activity (U/mg protein) in Report 1. Reporting enzyme activity relative to protein concentration enables a valid comparison of the extracts from different groups.
2. Learn the form and content requirements for your lab report.
3. Use online databases to collect information about tyrosinase to be used in the formal lab report.
Skills for this week
After completing this week's exercise, you will be able to:
- Calculate specific activity of the tyrosinase extract
- Pose and answer a novel research question
- Use protein databases to research information about tyrosinase
Pre-lab Preparation
Read this lesson completely.
Complete the online prelab quiz at least 24 hours before lab begins.
You do not need to prepare your lab notebook this week!
On lab day, bring your lab notebook and a laptop (we can provide laptops if you cannot bring your own).
