HCI 201 Multimedia and the World Wide Web
Fall 1999 - Section 703
Homework #4 -- Due: October 25
Purpose:
Demonstrate improved ability to analyze and communicate ideas for Web pages in a variety of ways.
Create content and prepare it for on-line publication.
Use appropriate HTML tags to format content.
Part 1. Proposal for Final Project Web Site (35 pts.)
- Describe the web site you plan to create for the final project (2-4 pages; 400-800 words).
NOTE: There are no specific page or feature requirements for the final project. The quality and completeness
of the work is what is important, so fewer pages that are very detailed and fully realized are better than many
pages that only represent skeleton content. Keep this in mind while you develop your proposal.
Include the following information:
- State the purpose of your site.
- Describe your target audience.
- Describe the navigation scheme of your site.
- Describe the content of your site.
- List the features you plan to include.
- If you are planning to use your mid-term project as a base for the final, what do you
plan to add for the final project version?
- Discuss any concerns you have about completing your site successfully.
If you are confident that you can successfully complete all that you've planned, say so.
- Put your proposal into HTML.
- Post your final project proposal on the Web.
- Hand in a document which gives me the URL for your proposal.
Part 2. Sketches of Your Proposed Web Site (15 pts.)
- Draw high-level sketches of your pages. Be sure your sketches include the following:
- A clear identification of each page.
- A rough illustration of the format of each page.
- A "flowchart" type representation of the navigation scheme.
- Hand this in as hard copy.
Extra credit: (5 pts.)
Publish your high-level sketches on the Web.
- Post your sketches on the Web.
- Put a link on your project proposal document linking to your sketches.
