Homework #2 -- Due: September 27
Purpose:
Demonstrate ability to analyze and communicate ideas for Web pages in a variety of ways.
Create content and prepare it for on-line publication.
Use appropriate HTML tags to format content.
Note:
Documents for this assignment may be prepared entirely offline. They do not have to be moved to the
Shrike server or posted on the Web in any way (unless you wish to do the extra credit).
Part 1. Proposal for Mid-Term Project Web Site (50 pts.)
- Pick a topic that interests you and that you would like to share with others.
- Develop a plan for a web site of at least five pages (a "Home" page and four sub-pages)
that presents your chosen topic.
- Describe the web site you plan to create for the mid-term project (2-4 pages; 400-800 words).
Include the following information:
- State the purpose of your site.
- Describe the navigation scheme of your site.
- Describe the content of your site.
- List the features you plan to include.
- Discuss any concerns you have about completing your site successfully.
- Put your proposal into HTML.
- Print the HTML source.
- View your proposal with your favorite browser.
- Print your proposal as your browser translates it.
- Note the name and version of the browser you used to print your proposal.
- Hand in hard copies of both print-outs.
Part 2. Sketches of Your Proposed Web Site (25 pts.)
- Draw high-level sketches of your pages and the navigation between them.
- Hand this in as hard copy.
Extra credit: (5 pts.)
Publish your proposal document on the Shrike server.
- Move your proposal document to Shrike.
- Make sure that your proposal page is accessible to others.
(Hint: Have a friend test this)
- Prepare a document that states that you have published your proposal on Shrike.
Include the URL of your proposal document.
- Hand this document in with the rest of Homework 2.
