General Society Meeting Tuesday October 15, 2002
Meeting at the Student Center
Meeting Called to Order by President at 9:17 pm
I. Introduction of Officers
Kate Belolhav—President
Michelle Valukenas—Executive Vice President
Kristiana Roeper—Vice President of Planning for Collegiate Success
Judy Lai—Vice President of Community Service
Kara Morse—Vice President of Community Service
Jenae Brooks—Treasurer
George Lattas—Secretary
II. First Order of Business—Community Service
A. Clothing Drive: Contact—Judy Lai
1. The National Society of Collegiate Scholars will be sponsoring a University wide Clothes drive to begin roughly the last two weeks previous to Winter Break. Exact date and all other details will be E-mailed to all members.
2. Items that are especially needed are warm clothes—coats, sweaters, gloves, mittens, hats, etc…--however, any article of clothing will be accepted.
3. All NSCS members are also encouraged to get everyone involved in the donation process.
B. Make a Difference Day: Contact—Kara Morse
1. NSCS will be sponsoring an event at the Animal Cruelty Society for Make
a difference day.
a. Date: Saturday, October 26, 2002
b. Time: 10:00 AM
c. Location: Stuart Academic Center (SAC) Pit
2. Transportation will be provided for and a fellowship dinner will be
provided after the event for all participants.
3. There was an expression of interest by numerous members for Humboldt
park rehabilitation and assistance. It is unfeasible, according to the
Park, to
make this event happen in October. Consequently, this will probably be
held in the Spring.
III. Planning for College Success
A. Vice President for Planning for College Success—Kristiana Roeper
1. Breakdows: PFCS is a community service opportunity sponsored by the national
organization where NSCS members commit to an academic year obligation in
which he/she serves as a mentor to a community 7th grader.
