ANNUAL/PAST EVENTS
Miss Cultural Beauty
Latina Women are known for their hard work, their morals, their ethics, and their minds. Here at DePaul University, we
commit to promoting the strengths of Latina women in the United States.
This event celebrates the accomplishments Latina women have done in our community, our country, and our world. The event is presented in elegance in which women represent their country and school (contestants from other colleges/universities can also participate), they do so by exemplifying the power, disctinction, and excellence of Latina women. The event consists of an introduction of the participant, cultural talent, and professionalism.
Elegancia Latina
Sigma Alpha Chapter of Sigma Lambda Beta participates in Elegancia Latina, which is hosted along with Gamma Phi Omega
and Alpha Psi Lambda.
This event incorporates Latino music, dance, and culture in a formal ambient. It depicts the culture shared, differed, and the culture that makes us as Latinos and Humans different, but binds us together at the same time. The event brings a large amount of the DePaul student body together, demonstrating our Fraternity’s pillar of cultural awareness.
Taste of Pan-America
In this event, the main purpose is to foster and amplify the vast amount of Latin American food and life. Furthermore, the
event also includes a chance to bond with the brothers of Sigma Lambda Beta Int. Fraternity Inc. We provide an hour of free
dance lessons, ranging from salsa, to cumbia, to merengue. The event concludes with a dance in which you can show off the new
moves learned during the dance lesson.
Latino Fest
Latino Fest is an annual event hosted by the DePaul Betas that aims in bringing the multiculturalism present at DePaul together.
This event provides students with the opportunity to learn more about their friends, class mates, themselves, and also, assists
in providing the student body with a glimpse of what Latino culture is all about.
The event consists of a large variety of Latino food from across Latin America, dances, ensembles, DJ’s, live band, and of course, a friendly and diverse atmosphere.
Words With a Pulse
This event was created to have not only DePaul current students represent and put their work, struggles, and feats in motion through
the art of spoken word, but also, have guests to demonstrate their life in a unique art form. Words with a pulse attracted a large
amount of the student body ranging from Latino to African American, to Asian, pacific islanders, and others.
Words with a pulse created an impact in a variety of our Brothers, class mates, and friends to attempt creating a difference in not only their life, but ours as well, and in return, a chance to change society one person at a time.
