The Rif Raff Book Club's selection for June was The Wedding by Nicholas Sparks.
The Wedding by Nicholas Sparks
This was such a "chick's" book, it made me want to puke. The character's were pretty flat and the whole story was unbelievable . The part about the swan being the old man's dead wife was too much. "Mom would never eat Wonder bread." was the daughter's remark when presented with the news that her mother was now a swan. Excuse me while I retch!
Forget about The Wedding. I found myself asking the question, I'm I doing enough in my own relationship to keep it current and meaningful? The answer... It doesn't matter in the way the author wants you to think about it. It was a nice tidy story all laid out for the willing reader. If all men strive to act like the main character (husband) in this book, I want to be a woman. I was not in the audience this writer was seeking.
