The Rif Raff Book Club's July reading was Watchmen by Alan Moore.

Watchmen by Alan Moore

Reader # 1's review:

This was a comic book and a pretty good one at that. I enjoyed reading it because it was almost like reading a novel. The words and pictures developed the characters and moved the story along. It was really good.

Reader # 2's review:

I'm really glad we had a comic book of this caliber on the book club list. I enjoyed it as a summer read that moved quickly from book to book in the collection. It had a number of interesting human nature story lines, power, greed, survival, sex, and money. The art work was great and I especially liked the way the panels zoomed in or out of a scene starting with or leaving an extreme close up of one element, like a smiley face button or a watch gear. This was not a comic book for the very young. The themes were very adult and violent. I liked this choice and the diversion from the traditional book club selection.
