The Rif Raff Book Club met Sunday February 4th for the January book selection The Dress Lodger by Sheri Holman at Chequers English Pub, LaGrange Illinois.
The Pub was a little fancy schmancy for our taste. And unlike the Labour in Vain pub from the boo k, there were no rats or ferrets that we saw. But the food was good (the shepards pie looked the best) and the drinks were even better.

The Dress Lodger by Sheri Holman
what's not to like....dirty hooker, dirty pub, dirty doctor, dirty eye(s), dirty grave digger, dirty rats, dirty girls all wrapped up in a torn blue dress. Marvelous darling, just marvelous. Bookclub looked like fun. And the additional of the digital camera is so high tech but why does everyone have their eyes blocked out? Everyone looks like witnesses at the Menedez Brother's trial...
Reader # 2's review:
I just finished reading The Dress Lodger and I too give it a thumbs up. What a truly sad story. The eye's death and Gustine's bedside vigil is quite the ending.
Reader # 3's review:
I loved the book although I found it difficult to follow in the beginning. Is RiffRaff Book Club Member, R.S., the Student of Life with journal entry: "Woman to my left: fat, flatulent, bovine specimen. Breasts as big as my head. Wet nurse?..."
