Blue Moon Circus: A Three-Ring Novel by Michael Raleigh
This writer, who lives in Naperville and teaches at Truman College, obviously took a pad of paper and pen and went on a vacation to the Circus Museum in Baraboo, Wis. He tooks some notes and then wrote this book. It's written pretty much for a fourth grade class to teach them about circuses in the 1900's. Nothing happens in the book. It is boring.
This was an easy read that offered a "nice" story about circus life. The main ideas seemed to be never giving up and dreams could come true if you wait a lifetime. The book gave an interesting behind the scene look at a traveling circus similar to one I visited recently on the south side of Chicago. The Universoul Circus. I liked the early 20th century time frame. There were a few moments of laughter in the book. The elephant showing up at the off season circus camp at the end was a lame way to finish the story, but that went along with the rest of the "wholesome" nature of the book.
