The Rif Raff Book Club met Sunday April 29 for the book selection The Power and the Glory by Graham Greene at 'Los Cazadores' restaurant in Oak Park, Illinois.
Los Cazadores was pretty good. It looked like a family owned business. The tacos were tasty. The service was reliable. And the traditional black velvet paintings - YOW - you know that one with the Mexican guy with the bow and arrow and the half-nude woman down by his feet - this one was huge!
The Power and the Glory by Graham Greene
I don't think it was the worst book I've ever read, but it certainly was a challenge to get through it. I didn't care about the characters, the subject was mildly interesting and it was written in a style that took some effort to figure out. It was by far the longest 226 page book I've read. The positive element was that it is a book I would not have read if not on the book club list. I think the club is about literary exposure and this book had its own erudite f-stop.
