Procedures
VT courses are "live" for some students but not for others. Students who enroll in the regular section attend classes with an instructor; students who enroll in the taped section see a video-taped recording of the lecture at one of the libraries. The video tapes are not, of course, Hollywood quality; but the video and audio are good enough so that students in the taped section can see and hear what the same thing as students enrolled in the regular section. Instructors again are responsible for making handouts and the like available over the Internet through a WWW or FTP site.
Students enrolled in the taped section of a VT course are welcome to sit in the regular section if there is space available. Students in the taped section have first priority for viewing the tapes. The tapes must be viewed in the library, which honors reservations for viewing rooms.
To view the tapes you should call the library of your choice and reserve the videotape for the time and date you will be viewing it. The videotape of this class will be available in the libraries the afternoon following the live class.
Homework and programming projects will be posted. It is your responsibility to check periodically to determine assignments and due dates. You should also check the syllabus for general comments on what is expected of you.
Video section students may submit all assignments by email (please submit as plain text files). They may also be turned in at the computer science front office (CTI building, 4th floor) to be put into my mailbox, or faxed to me. All assignments must be submitted by the due date to avoid late penalties.
There will be a final but no mid-term. The exam will be at the loop campus (room 220). You are expected to attend the class for that session.
