By now you all know that lecture #8 on 2/27 was cancelled because I was ill. My apologies. Hopefully, the administration was able to contact you before you made the journey to class. They would have mentioned in the email/voicemail that you received that I would be making a few changes to the schedule to make up for the missed class.

Here are the details of those changes.

  1. I will offer extended office hours on Thursday, 3/6. Office hours will start at 3:30pm instead of 4:15pm and I will also have a 45 minute session after class (i.e. 9:15pm - 10:00pm).
  2. I will provide an automatic extension to anyone for Project #2 without penalty. No need to contact me, you can turn it in on Thursday, 3/13 instead of 3/6. You can see me during office hours to discuss Project #2. I will also offer a 30 minute discussion of Project #2 at the end of class on Thursday, 3/6. As previously planned, Project #3 will be posted on Thursday, 3/6 and will be due at the start of the finals week class session (i.e. 3/20).
  3. We will still have quiz #5 but it will be posted online. So, think of it as a take home quiz. It will be available at about 12:00noon on Tuesday, 3/4. Please do the quiz and turn it in at the start of class on Thursday, 3/6.
  4. We will not have a quiz on Thursday, 3/6. Our next quiz (i.e. quiz #6) will be at the start of Lecture #10 (i.e. 3/13).
  5. I have decided to cancel the final exam. Instead, we will use the class session on Thursday, 3/20 as a regular class session to complete the syllabus (perhaps a 1 hour lecture) and to do quiz #7. As a final exam score I plan to use your best score from your quizzes. Also, I will use the best four (instead of five) of the remaining six quiz scores towards your final grade.
  6. The lecture notes for the cancelled session (i.e lecture #8, on 2/27) will be posted by end of day Tuesday, 3/4. If possible, please review the section of the notes that discuss the Simple Linear Regression Model prior to class on Thursday, 3/6. If you are registered in CSC428/328, you should try to review this material as well as the material on Simple Linear Regression and Hypothesis Testing prior to your Wednesday, 3/5 class.

Finally, I am working through many emails received since Wednesday night so please be patient if it is another day or so before I respond to your email. Also, let me know if you need your previous project or quiz score before class on Thursday, 3/6.
