Final Review - Winter 99
The final is comprehensive so you need to review all quizzes
as well as the midterm. Skip the SAS quiz. There will be no
questions on SAS syntax but you are expected to know how to use the output
from selected SAS procedures (see below).
Check the
midterm review if you need practice on the material covered up to the
midterm.
See the
Sampling Distribution section of
Review Problems & Readings
for practice on
the following topics:
- Sampling Distributions
- Confidence Intervals
- Hypothesis Testing
- Sample Size Determination
You should also know how to do the following:
- State the regression model. Remember
that the model consists of a functional part and a set of assumptions.
- Interpret the correlation coefficient.
- Derive the correlation coefficient r from R-square.
- Interpret the parameters
of the regression model.
- Interpret confidence intervals.
- Use the
output from proc reg. You should be able to find
R-square as well as
estimates of the parameters of the regression model.
- Use the output from proc univariate. You should be able to
find basic summary statistics (i.e. the mean and standard deviation).
You should know how to find and use the
p-value for a normality test
and how to use the
box plot.
To further aid your preparation here are
three questions, taken from past
finals, and the solutions.
