Final Review - Winter 2001

The final is comprehensive so you should review the lecture notes, all quizzes, homework assignments and the midterm. Skip the SAS quiz. There will be no questions on SAS syntax but you are expected to know how to use the output of selected SAS procedures (see below).

Calculators will be needed. Tables and required formulae will be provided.

Check the midterm review if you need practice on the material covered up to the midterm. See the Sampling Distributions, Confidence Intervals & Hypothesis Testing as well as the Correlation & Regression sections of Review Problems & Readings for practice on the following topics:

You should know how to do the following:

  1. State the regression model. Remember that the model consists of two parts, a functional expression and a set of conditions/assumptions.
  2. Interpret the correlation coefficient.
  3. Interpret the coefficients of the regression equation.
  4. Use the output from proc corr
  5. Use the output from proc univariate and proc means. You should be able to find basic statistics (i.e. the mean and standard deviation). You should also know how to find and use the p-value for a normality test.

To further aid your preparation here are four questions, taken from past finals, and the solutions.
