Final Review - Fall 2003-2004

The final is comprehensive so you should review the lecture notes, all quizzes, homework assignments (i.e. problem sets) and the midterm. There will be no questions on SAS syntax but you are expected to know how to use the output of selected SAS procedures (see below). The exam is scheduled to last 90 minutes but can be completed in 60 minutes. You can expect 3, or maybe 4, questions each with multiple parts.

Calculators will be needed. Tables and required formulae will be provided.

Check the midterm review if you need practice on the material covered up to the midterm. See the Sampling Distributions, Confidence Intervals & Hypothesis Testing as well as the Correlation & Regression sections of Review Problems & Readings for practice on the following topics:

It is important that you know how to do the following:

  1. Interpret the Pearson correlation coefficient. You should know the properties of the correlation coefficient.
  2. Interpret the coefficients of the simple linear regression equation.
  3. State the simple linear regression model.
  4. Use the output from proc means. You should be able to find basic statistics (i.e. the mean and standard deviation). You should also know how to find and use the p-value for a normality test.

To further aid your preparation here are four questions and the solutions. Note that these questions are primarily intended to aid in preparing you for the computational sections of questions.
