The midterm is comprehensive so you should review the following material:

• Terminology, Notation & Basic Concepts
• Sampling Distribution Theory & Confidence Intervals
• Hypothesis Testing
• Paired & Independent Samples
  Note: You may skip Case 2, Definition 2a, and the Sample Size Determination sections.

There will be no questions on SAS. Remember to review quiz#1, and quiz #2. Also, if you have not already done so, see COL/dlweb for the discussion on problem set #1, and the tutorial problem discussed at the end of the 10/13 class.

Following are several important details:

• The exam will be closed book. I will provide tables (both versions of the standard Normal and Student t tables will be provided), scratch paper, and all required formulae.
• Calculators will be needed.
• The exam is scheduled for 120 minutes but can be completed in less than 75 minutes.
• We will not have a lecture after the exam but I will be available after the exam for questions on Project #1.
  Note: Remember that if you need an extension for your project you must send me email prior to the start of class on Mon, 10/20.

Note that these questions are primarily intended to aid in preparing you for the computational sections of questions. You should be prepared to discuss your computations/results. For example, if you are asked to construct a confidence interval then you will also be asked to interpret the confidence interval.
