Schedule/Week 6:
WEEK 6: Other Methods of Inquiry.
In this, our final class, we discuss the use of existing data bases as a source of
information (and misinformation). We also discuss process mapping, ethno-
graphic research, and needs assessments.
Finally, we discuss the presentation and documentation of the results of applied
research. We also discuss the notion of "objectivity" in research.
This evening is also a time for recap and review. If issues have emerged for you
which have not been adequately addressed, this is the time for clarification.
In the following few weeks, you will be working on the approval of your
Learning Plan and beginning your first research projects, so this is the time to become
confident that you can launch the work of the Focus Area.
Presentations by Chris (process mapping), Geri (using data bases), Karen
(ethnographic research), and John & Mary Ann P. (needs assessments).
