Schedule/Week 2

WEEK 2: The function of the literature review.

We will meet tonight in the library to begin the process of writing a literature review
for your proposed applied research project and to discuss its concept and purposes.
We will also discuss the difference between primary and secondary research, and why
both are important in "applied research."

We will spend the entire class in the library, allowing students to begin serious work
on the literature review. Time will also be made available for groups who wish to
          structure collaborative learning activities.

There will be no student presentations tonight.

Homework: Complete a draft of the literature review for your applied research
project; that is, write a brief essay which addresses the central questions of the
literature review and attach a printout of some of the sources you have identified
and examined. Continue making notes on the problem-based learning grid.
