DePaul's Students in Free Enterprise chapter was created in November 1997, and already has made its presence known by winning several awards. In April, SIFE won Rockie of the Year Award" at the SIFE Midwest Regional competition.

Recently, SIFE won the national first prize in an AT&T sponsored contest for "Best Use of the Internet." In order to win this award DePaul had to compete with 58 other schools with more established SIFE programs from around the country. The award also carried with it a cash prize of $3000.

Besides president Clara Osobu, members Orlando Dobvincu, Michael Yang, Edward Papabatini, David Lang, Stephen Magnusen, Helen Osobu, Gretchen Lowe, Alfonso Berrera and Moombi Murchison, competed. Dr. Harold Welsch, the groups moderator, had promised the group that he would donate $1000 to the SIFE chapter if they won first prize.

"I'm happy to honor that pledge. Especially since the group won in such a spectacular fashion. The members really worked hard to make it happen and it paid off."
