Part 1: (60pts) Continue working on your website:
o
Make copies of all your previous files and work
on the copies only!
o
Improve your website’s existing pages. Add color and a logo image specific
to your site. Include at least one list. Be
creative (but tasteful!) in your use of color,
fonts, sizes, images and the various
html tags that we have seen in class so far.
o Include a simple navigation scheme: Links on each page can be listed horizontally or vertically. It is important that the navigation aspect and function remain consistent throughout all pages of your website. At this point some of the items on your navigation list may not point to anything yet, and some might even change in the future as you think up more appropriate pages for your site, but you must have a few links already working as described below:
· There should be a working hyperlink on the ‘Homepage’ to the “About Us” page and to the Gallery page you will create in this HW (see below). Save the new homepage as “Homework3-A.html”. Upload it into HCI201 on your students account.
· There should be a working hyperlink on the ‘About US’ page to the “Homepage” and to the Gallery page you will create in this HW (see below). Save the new ‘About Us’ page as “Homework3-B.html” and upload it into HCI201 on your students account.
o Now is a good time to improve the contents of your pages. For example, make sure your homepage tells the user what it is that you are exposing or selling through this site. A quick look (4 seconds) at your homepage should tell the user what it’s all about, and what are the products sold or the purpose of the site. A simple name and links without clear meaning won’t help your user.
o Gallery page: Create an new page for your web site. This should be a page containing a minimum of 4 images, such as a gallery page or photo album. As an example, have a look at The Pug Show. This page should also contain links to the Homepage and to the About Us page. Save this file as “Homework3-C.html” and upload it into HCI201 on students.
o Include the “ALT” attribute with each image you add to your files! (This will be part of your grade.)
Part 2: (40pts) Improve your assignment index page:
o Make a copy of your “Assignments.html” file. Name it: “Assignments-2.html” (that’s version 2). Keep the old copy as is.
Use “Textpad” or “Notepad” to work on the “Assignments-2.html” file as follows.
o You should have a list of 3 main items so far: Homework1, Homework2, and Homework3. Under Homework1 and Homework2, keep the hyperlinks the way they were up to HW2 from last week.
o Like you did in HW2, now under the item Homework3 create a nested UNORDERED list, listing the items: “Homepage”, “About Us” and “Photo Gallery”.
o Hyperlink the word “Homepage” to point to your “Homework3-A.html” file, hyperlink the words “About Us” to point to your “Homework3-B.html” file, and hyperlink the word “Gallery” to point to your “Homework3-C.html” file that was described in Part 1.
o Add color and/or images: change the color of some or all text and/or add a background color or image. The functionality as well as the overall look of your pages is important.
o Insert a photo of you under your personal information. You can resize the photo as needed, and add a border as we have seen in class. Make sure you include the “ALT” attribute to each image you add to your files!
o Using SSH, upload “Assignments-2.html” into the HCI201 folder on students.
o
Make sure
you can view it on the browser by typing in the URL you will be submitting, and
click on all the links on it to verify that they lead to the appropriate files!
· Use the DLWeb to submit the URL’s:

Remember: Unix is case sensitive! Write down the file names above EXACTLY the way you have saved them into your students account, and don’t forget the ~ in the URL.
