Stories at DePaul - Overview
Through my years at DePaul University I have come to appreciate
the great diversity in our student body. It seems worthwhile to
capture some of this, informally, through the stories we tell, and
to share this with others in the DePaul community.
In this phase we are simply collecting true stories from the lives of
our students, either inside, or outside, DePaul. These do not have to
be profound, but might simply capture some moment, or series of
related moments, in time that were meaningful to you.

Here are some guidelines and suggestions:
- What are the stories that reflect what is important to
you? These are good candidates for this corpus of stories.
- Humorous, sad, or heroic stories, and so forth, are encouraged, as
are stories about work or home that highlight experiences others
might not have exposure to.
- Submissions can be either anonymous, or named. If you wish your
name attached, include an email address so we can verify the contents.
In any case, we request that you change the names of others (and note
this) unless it is absolutely appropriate not to.
- If you wish to send on a story about someone else that reflects
something about your own cultural contribution to DePaul this is
fine as well, as long as you strongly believe this to be a true story.
- More than one submission is not only fine, but encouraged.
- Because of our limited resources we request that you refrain
from including legally suspect or otherwise questionable material.
- This is intended as a collection of TRUE stories reflecting the lives
of the DePaul community. Since we will not be verifying this please
be kind and refrain from artistic license.
Further Suggestions:
Focus on something interesting that you have done, or that happened
to you. The idea is not that these must be earth-shaking events, but
rather that they reflect the wide diversity in how people spend their
work, and home, hours.
Because these stories are not so commonly known, we are particularly
interested in hearing from students with unusual cultural backgrounds,
or unusual jobs. However, do not take this to mean that we would not
like to hear from all our students, and faculty, since everyone has a
story to tell!
