1.What is ASP ?
Active Server Pages is a programming environment that provides the ability to combine HTML, scripting, and components to create powerful Internet applications that run on your server. If you are already creating Web sites that combine HTML, scripting, and some reusable components, you can use ASP to glue these items together. You can create an HTML interface for your application by adding script commands to your HTML pages and you can encapsulate your business logic into reusable components. These components can be called from script or other components.
2. What are the five standard built-in objects ASP includes for global use?
ASP includes five standard objects for global use:
Request葉o get information from the user
Response葉o send information to the user
Server葉o control the Internet Information Server
Session葉o store information about and change settings for the user's current Web-server session
Application葉o share application-level information and control settings for the lifetime of the application
3. How long is the user痴 session data maintained at the Server?
The server will maintain a user's session data for the lifetime of the session. A script can end a session programmatically by calling the Abandon method of the Session object. When a user completes an application and a session is no longer needed, the script can simply call Session Abandon to end the session and free the server resources used by that session. A session can also end if the user does not make any HTTP requests to the ASP application for a specified time-out period.
4. How can you reference server variables or objects in client script?
You can never directly reference server variables or objects in client script. Remember that all server scripting is evaluated on the server, and then stripped out of the page so that the script itself is never sent to the browser. A wall exists between server variables and objects and the client script. If you want to pass server variables to the browser as variables for use in client script, you can do so.
Ex: In the client script, you can write, clientvariable ==<% = servervariable %>
5. How can you process client certificates through an ASP script?
ASP Scripts for Processing Certificates
As an ASP application developer, you can write scripts to confirm the presence of a certificate and read certificate fields. For example, you can access the user name or company name fields from the certificate. Active Server Pages stores certificate information in the ClientCertificate collection of the Request object. Before you can process client certificates with ASP, however, your Web server must be configured to either accept or require a client certificate; otherwise the ClientCertificate collection will be empty.
