-May 5, 2014: Marissa Locke was offered an internship at the Field Museum of Natural History. She will be working with Thorsten Lumbsch on a project examining speciation in lichens. Congratulations Marissa! That makes 3/3 for Summer research positions obtained by non-graduating students in our lab. |
-May 3, 2014: The Aguirre Lab participated in “Day at DePaul” on Saturday May 3, 2014. We gave a group of local 7th and 8th graders a tour of the lab and explained why science is awesome.

-April 12, 2014: Our paper on morphological and genetic divergence of Hoplias microlepis in rivers and artificial impoundments of western Ecuador won the Best Paper Award in the category of Young Scholar/Ichthyology for the 2013 volume of Copeia. |

His presentation "The Beak of the Fish: Phylogenetics and Biomechanics of Coral Reef Fishes", will be at 1:00pm. It will be followed by a reception and mini poster session. |
