Title: Hub: A Woods Hole for Community Research

This panel will focus on discussion regarding the development of Community Action Research Centers (CA-RC) that are being developed in Puerto Rico, Kansas and Chicago. There will be particular emphasis on the development of a Chicago site, which is in the beginning stages of planning. The CA-RC has the possibility of creating opportunities for support, academic training, collaboration, funding, (and fun) in our community work, as well as in research, teaching and service. Several questions and issues will be considered including the following:

1) What is a sight and how does it work?
2) Roles for students, faculty and community members
3) Implications for community psychology
4) Prospects for inter-university and inter-disciplinary collaboration
5) Plans for this academic year
