Running PHP from the Command Line

• Add the folder c:\PHP\ to the path:
  Select Start >> Control Panel >> System >> Advanced Tab >> Environment Variables.

  Locate the variable Path under System variables. Edit it to append c:\PHP\

• Start a new Command Window (Start >> All Programs >> Accessories >> Command Window).

• Use the cd command to change to the folder (testfolder) where the PHP script (test.php) is located.

• Use the type command to check the contents of the script:
  C:\testfolder>type test.php
  <?php
      echo "This is a test.";
  ?>

• Type the following command to run the script:
  C:\testfolder>php-cgi test.php
  X-Powered-By: PHP/5.1.2
  Content-type: text/html

  This is a test.
  C:\testfolder>php-cgi test.php

• PHP statements can also be executed interactively, for example:
  C:\testfolder>php-cgi -a
  Interactive mode enabled

  echo 1,"abc",3
  ?>
  X-Powered-By: PHP/5.1.2
  Content-type: text/html

  123

  C:\testfolder>php-cgi test.php
