HCI 201 -- Ex5 -- Table of Contents
Goal: Create a Table of Contents for Exercises and Projects.
As you complete exercises Ex6, Ex8 and Ex11, you will revise the
table of contents page (contents.htm), replacing the stub page with
the actual page completed for the exercise. You will also need
a title for each page that you upload.
IMPORTANT: Choose a common font and background color for all pages.
Later we will see how to do this with document-level or external
cascading style sheets.
- Create a FrontPage one-page web named ex5smithweb
- Change the name of index.htm to contents.htm
- Create pages ex6-stub.htm, ex8-stub.htm,
ex11-stub.htm, hobbywebsite-stub.htm and
businesswebsite-stub.htm. You do not create a stub page for
Ex3 because you have already uploaded it.
- Here are the contents of a sample stub page:

Color and Images with Tables and/or Layers
Exercise Ex6 is practice using tables and/or layers that
contain text, background colors and images.
- Go back to the page contents.htm. Design the page so that
it looks something like the following. Note that the links on these
sample page do not actually work.

External Link
External Link to
IBM
To create a hyperlink, select the text you wish
to convert to a hyperlink with the mouse. Then
right click and select Hyperlink. If you are linking
to a page in the same web, select the page. If you
are linking to an external site (as in Step 6), type the site
address into the Address textbox. You will also have to type in the
relative address for the Exercise Ex3 page because it does not
exist in your web.
- Add an external link to a site of your choice.
Do NOT choose IBM or DePaul.
