Guidelines for Submitting HCI 201 Homework

Note: COLASM means Course Online Assignment Submission System.

  1. Keep backup copies of all assignments.   If your assignment gets lost, a backup copy will make things easier for you. The late penalty will not be waived if you lose an assignment. A 128Meg or 256Meg memory stick is the easiest way to transport your homework exercises and projects to and from class.

  2. Include your name in all assignments. All exercises must contain your name, project name, class name (HCI 201), and submission date. Projects must contain your name somewhere on the homepage.

  3. Check directions before submitting projects. Some assignments must be submitted to COLASM directly (Ex1, Ex2, Ex4, Ex7, Ex9, Ex11, Ex13) as an MSWord or Text document. Some assignments must be uploaded to the students.depaul.edu server (Ex3, Ex5, Ex6, Ex8, Ex10, Ex12, HobbyWebsite, BusinessWebsite). For these assignments, a comment is also submitted on the COLASM containing the student's name, project name, submission date, and link to uploaded assignment.

  4. The names of uploaded files should not contain spaces or uppercase letters. Although Microsoft tolerates spaces in filenames, Unix (the operating system of the server) does not like them. Although filenames are not case sensitive in Microsoft, filenames ARE case sensitive in Unix. Try to name the files in your assignments logically and consistantly.

  5. To use COLASM at the site http://dlweb.cti.depaul.edu:
    1. Use your campus connect username and password to log on.
    2. Select the course HCI 201, Section 401.
    3. Select Submit Assignments on the left.
    4. Browse to find the file to submit.
    5. Press Submit File.

Assignments cannot be submitted using Blackboard in this course.
