User Centered Design Discussion
Definitions
- The presenter is the person presenting his or her design. The
four people in the group take turns being the presenter.
- The users are the three other persons asking questions and offering
suggestions about the design.
Suggested Parts of Each Presenter's Session
The users can ask questions and/or offer suggestions after each part.
Each presenter should take notes on the users suggestions.
- The presenter explains the General Concept of the web site, including the
primary users of the site.
- The presenter describes the content of the home page and the links it
contains to other pages.
- The presenter describes the contents of each other page (other than the
home page), including low fidelity prototypes if possible. The
users offer suggestions for additional content that they would like to see on
each page.
- The users offer suggestions for additional pages that they would like to
see in the site.
- The users comment on whether the description of the web pages fit in with
General Concept described in 1.
Hats to Wear for Users
A hat is a perspective that a user assumes when offering suggestions
or criticisms of a web site.
- White facts, information, neutral.
- Red pure emotion, don't rationalize, feelings.
- Blue control, organizational issues.
- Black negative logical, why it can't be done.
- Yellow positive speculative, benefits, why it will work.
- Green creative, new ideas, added value, visions.
