The faculty computer condor, referred to on this link, is similar to the
hawk computer that hosts the students accounts.
Both computers run the Unix operating system.
- Invoke the Secure File Transfer Client by selecting Start, SSH Secure
Shell, and Secure File Transfer Client.
- On the left side, select the file to upload on the PC:
- Select the disc drive from the drop down menu.
- Browse for the file to upload.
- Connect to the remote Unix machine:
- Click on "Quick Connect".
- In the "Connect to Remote Host" dialog, fill in the host name
"students.depaul.edu" and your user name.
- Click on the "Connect" button.
- Enter yes or no as you wish to the "Host Identification Dialog."
- Enter your password in the "Enter Password" dialog.
- Close the "Add Profile" window.
- Verify that the public_html folder is present. If not:
- Create it with the "New Folder" toolbar button.
- Right click on the folder and select Properties.
- Set the permissions to
Owner: Read, Write, Execute; Group: Read, Execute; Other: Read, Execute.
- Browse to the destination folder (public_html for Ex2).
- Drag the file to upload from the left side (PC) to the right side (Remote
Host).
- Verify that the permissions are set correctly:
- Right click on the folder and select Properties.
- Set the permissions to
Owner: Read, Write; Group: Read; Other: Read.
