201: Multimedia and the World wide Web
Final Project
Due 11/26
As the vote
went against having in class presentations, the final assignment has been
tweaked to provide 50 points more of needed details.
The presentations
are now worth 50 pt. extra credit and will occur on 11/19.
Objective: Demonstrate
your ability to integrate all of the material we have covered during the
quarter to create an excellent web site. Recognize the value of heuristic
evaluation to assist in creating a usable site. Explore the benefits of
presenting your work to your peers.
Part 1. Website
(150 pt.)
Complete development and publish
your site on the Web:
- Your site must include a
minimum of five pages and at least 5 images.
- You must have one form -
that thanks the user for filling it out after they hit submit (onSubmit
attribute) and an effect related to the reset button (onReset attribute).
The form must use a cgi process for the material- not a mail to action.
This will be covered in class.
- You must use cascading
style sheets for all color and font aspects. Use the css for everything
dealing with color and font.
- Incorporate, ALT, and META
tags.
- Embed multimedia into one
page (either video, animation, or sound)
- I will give special consideration
to sites that incorporate things we have not gone over in class, and
efforts to make your site a creative use of html, css, multimedia. If
you choose to incorporate javascript that will also be in your favor.
Part 2. evaluation and rationale
defense paper (100 pt.) When you turn this in hand in all the previous papers you
did this quarter so I can see improvment.
Return to your initial site
rationale document.
- Explain how your finished
site meets the goals set by your rationale.
- Explain how the features
you have incorporated will be usable, useful, and desirable to your
intended audience.
- Explain why your site will
generate an online audience.
- Finally return to the list
of 10 usability heuristics refer to visibility of system status and
3 additional heuristics of your choice.
- Explain how your site
adheres to those heuristics.
- Use screen shots (with
captions or titles) in addition to your verbal argument to explain
how your site incorporates those usability ideals.
Part 3. Presentation of
your web site. (50 pt. extra credit) on 11/19.
- You have 5 -10 minutes
to sell your site.
- Show what YOU have developed.
- Refer to your paper to explain
how your site fits your intended audience, and relies on the usability
heuristics to add to the site's appeal.
- Turn in any notes or slides
you develop for this.
