FACULTY BIOGRAPHY

Patricia Monaghan is a member of the Resident Faculty of the School for New Learning. She spent most of her life in Alaska, where as a science writer she covered resource development and ecology. Her doctoral work was on connections between quantum theory and modern poetics. She has also published widely in the area of women's spirituality, including a dictionary of the world's goddesses. She has published two books of poetry and won awards for her short-story writing. She is currently working on a book on the connection between mythology and ecology in Ireland. Science and writing, she believes, are similar in that they demand keen and unbiased observation of the world around us.
