CSC 400 Discrete Structures for Computer Science
Homework #4

This homework is an online quiz on D2L.  You have until 2/10 11:59 pm to submit the quiz. 

1. How to access the quiz: To access the quiz, log on to D2L and select the top menu 'More'.  Then in the drop-down menu, select 'Quizzes' and find 'HW#4'.
    
2. Quiz questions: There are 20 multiple-choice questions in the quiz.  Topics are from the first class until Mathematical Induction. 

   There is a correct answer in the choices for every question. Each quiz is worth 0.6 points.  If you get all questions correctly, you will receive 12 points -- out of 10 points, where the overage 2 points will become an equivalent of extra credit. 

3. How to take the quiz: You can log in and out of the quiz (i.e., start and finish the quiz session) as many times as you wish before the due date/time.  Each time you log in/start, you have as much time as you wish before logging out.  For EACH question, after you choose an answer, hit the 'Save' button.  Then at the END of the quiz, press the 'Submit quiz' button.
   
   Note that you do NOT have to do all questions every time you log in -- You can do as many as you wish at a time and save the answers.  You can also change your answer.  The system keeps the answers you have (last) SAVED, and those are recalled next time you log in.
    
4. How to submit the quiz: After you are done with all questions (or whenever ready), you submit the quiz by hitting the 'Submit quiz' button, which you find at the end of the quiz.
  If you forget to hit the button, your quiz won't be finalized (and your score will be 0).

IMPORTANT NOTE:  You are allowed to 'submit the quiz' at most TWICE.  Each time is referred to as an 'attempt' in the system -- so you have 'attempt1' and 'attempt2'.

• After you submit the quiz for the first time (i.e., attempt1), you can log back in to the quiz and see the result of your answers immediately -- but only the questions you answered correctly.
   
• If you like to improve your score, you can make the second attempt ('attempt2').  To do so, you 'start the quiz' again.  But note that this will be a BRAND NEW attempt -- your previous answers (correct or incorrect, regardless) will NOT be carried over from the first attempt.  In other words, you have to do the quiz ALL OVER AGAIN.  That's how D2L's Quiz works...

  Advice: So during the first attempt, you may want to jot down your answers, and use the feedback after the first attempt to manually carry over your correct answers to the second attempt.

  Then after you submit the second time, you can see the full result of your answers (immediately again).  This time you will see the correct answers to all questions.
  

• Note that it's NOT necessary to make the attempt twice -- Once is enough.  In that case, the result of your first attempt will be taken as your final score.
