Why Production and Inventory control?
The certificate in Production and Inventory Control is a comprehensive and concise 30-week program that is conistent with the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) body of knowledge . This program is designed to provide you with an in-depth understanding of the major components and related issues of a modern supply chain and manufacturing planning & control systems.
This program is taught by DePaul University's faculty that possess strong industry experience in the field of production and inventory management. Although this is a DePaul program, each student will receive the new APICS certification student guide for each module.
The Goals
This program draws on the professional body of knowledge in the field of production and inventory control. Its objective is to convey this knowledge and reinforce a thorough understanding of the material through lecture, discussion, assigned homework and case studies. During this 30-week program, you will explore the topics relevant to production and inventory control, including:
MODULE 1 - BASICS OF
SUPPLY CHAIN
Take an introductory look at the elements and constraints
businesses face when managing the complete flow of materials from end supliers
through to end customers in today's increasingly challenging and changing
marketplace.
MODULE 2 - MASTER
PLANNING OF RESOURCES
Learn the available methodologies and planning
tools used to handle the strategic and tactical facets of business
planning.
MODULE 3 - DETAILED
SCHEDULING AND PLANNING
Learn the available methodologies and
operational planning and scheduling tools used to transition higher-level plans
into day-to-day operational requirements for business.
MODULE 4 - EXECUTION AND
CONTROL OF OPERATIONS
Take your knowledge of planning to the execution
level and learn available methodologies to effectively manage the shop floor to
meet your higher-level business goals.
MODULE 5 - STRATEGIC
MANAGEMENT OF RESOURCES
Take all of the knowledge discussed in the
previous modules and apply them in this capstone module.

Who Should Attend?
The production and inventory control certificate program is for middle managers, upper middle managers, staff personnel and consultants currently charged with inventory and production responsibilities. Professionals with at least two-years of hands-on experience in a production/inventory management environment will benefit most from attending this program.

Steven Yniguez, CPIM
Steven Yniguez is a Business Solutions Consultant for IFS North America, one of the leading eBusiness software solution providers in the industry. Steven has a strong background in implementation and consulting experience in a variety of manufacturing and distribution environments. He offers several years of operations management experience and brings real-life examples to the classroom. In addition to his industry experience, Steven has served as a Director for the Chicago Chapter of APICS and is the Lead Instructor for this program. Through his hands-on industry experience and involvement with APICS, Steven offers a solid understanding of supply chain and manufacturing issues in today's industry.
Terry N. Horner, CFPIM, MBA
Terry Horner's more than 20 years of industry experience covers major manufacturing organizations, management consulting, software organizations and professional education, all of which contribute to his extensive knowledge of major enterprise resource planning (ERP) implementations. He is curently a Manufacturing Project Manager for McCook Metals, LLC, a major aluminium processor and supplier to the aerospace industry and NASA. He earned his MBA in operations management from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
John McNett, CPIM
John is presently with Culinary Foods in Chicago, serving as Project Manager for their SAP software implementation. His previous position with Culinary was that of Production Planning & Inventory Control Manager. He has instructed courses in Quality Management, Purchasing Management and Production for DePaul over the last seven years. He has nineteen years of experience in distribution, quality assurance and production planning in both discrete and process industries. In addition to these line positions, he has been on several teams involving systems design and implementation. He earned his B.S. in Commerce in DePaul's Materials Management program in February 1992.
Rajen Parekh, CFPIM, M.S.
Rajen Parekh is a Project Manager at 3Com. Prior to joining 3Com, he was a management consultant with IBM Consulting. He has over twenty years of industry and consulting experience in manufacturing, materials management and business applications. His experience includes implementing several global ERP - Enterprise Resources Planning systems. Mr. Parekh has held a variety of operations, management and analytical positions in the manufacturing, marketing, consulting and technology area such as Applications Consultant, Management Consultant, Manager of Production and Inventory Control, Inventory Analyst and Business Systems Analyst. He is a Certified Fellow CFPIM of American Production and Inventory Control society. He earned his M.S. in operation research from IIT, Chicago.
Lori Cook, Ph.D.
Dr. Cook is an Assistant professor of Operations management in Kellstadt Graduate School Of Business, DePaul University. She received her B.S., M.Eng. and Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Louisville. She previously taught at Southern Polytechnic State University in Marietta,Georgia. She also served as the coordinator for the Master of Science in Quality Assurance (MSQA) graduate program. In addition to teaching she has been involved in consulting and educational activities for various companies. She has held engineering positions with both Armco eastern Steel Division and Kentucky Fried Chicken Corporation. Her current research interests include quality and process improvement, quantitative research methods and operations strategy.
Al Drewno, CPIM
Al Drewno has over 26 years in the Manufacturing, Systems and Materials Management area primarily for Allegiance Healthcare, a leading manufacturer and distributor of health care products worldwide. He is currently Director of Business Integration for Allegiance, and previously has held the positions of Director of Global Sourcing, Director of Materials Management Systems, Plant Manager and Senior Manufacturing Consultant. Al received his degree in Operations Management from Northern Illinois University and is a CPIM through the American Production and Inventory Control Society, (APICS).
The Cost
Option One - The entire program must be paid for prior to the program start date, at a cost of $3,700.
Option Two - Individual modules may be taken for a fee of $800 each. Tuition is due at the start of the module.
Required textbooks and
materials from the American Production & Inventory Control Society (APICS) are included. Tuition deferment options are no longer available.
Refunds will be granted on a pro-rated basis determined by the date the student withdraws from the program, less an administrative fee of $150.
