Why Enterprise Resource Planning?
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) encompasses the broad set of activities that integrate data over multiple functions within the organization. ERP systems provide the linkages among manufacturing, material management, engineering, customer order management, purchasing, shop floor control and planning activities.
The certificate in ERP is a comprehensive 18-week program jointly developed by top business professionals from the Chicago land area and DePaul University faculty. The program is designed to provide an in-depth understanding of the practical and theoretical aspects of enterprise resource planning systems. Emphasis is placed on various components of ERP, integration, implementation and industry application.
The Goals
This program is based on the professional body of knowledge in the field of Enterprise Resource Planning. Its objective is to convey this knowledge and reinforce a thorough understanding of the material through lecture, discussion, assigned problems and case studies. The Topics
During the 18-week program you will explore the following topics relevant to Enterprise Resource Planning systems in three modules, including:
MODULE 1 - FUNDAMENTALS OF ENTERPRISE RESOURCE PLANNING
This module will cover an overview of the components of ERP systems. Specific focus areas include evolution of ERP, sales and operations planning, customer order management, engineering and manufacturing integration, technical issues and supply chain concepts.
MODULE 2 - MANAGEMENT ISSUES OF ENTERPRISE RESOURCE PLANNING SYSTEMS IMPLEMENTATION
Discuss the selection process for ERP systems. Understand the importance of data record accuracy as a prerequisite for ERP systems. Examine the critical linkages among change management, project management and business process reengineering for a successful implementation strategy.
MODULE 3 - OPERATING WITHIN AN ENTERPRISE RESOURCE PLANNING SYSTEM
Discuss ERP applications for a variety of industries. Examine critical elements in ERP system implementations successes and failures thorough real world case studies and sharing of student and instructor experiences.

MEET AND NETWORK with individuals that have implemented other ERP systems, those in the midst of implementation and those considering ERP systems.
COMPREHEND the role of Enterprise Resource Planning in an effective corporate strategy.
Who Should Attend?
The enterprise resource planning certificate program is for middle managers, upper mangers, staff personnel and consultants currently involved with erp systems. Professionals with business or technical background will benefit from attending this program.

DePaul University's Management Development Center features top business professionals in the Chicago land area, who teach in conjunction with faculty from DePaul's College of Commerce.
Faculty Expertise
Al Drewno, CPIM
Al Drewno has over 26 years in the Manufacturing, Systems and Materials Management area primarily for Allegiance Healthcare, a leading manufacturer and distributor of health care products worldwide. He is currently Director of Business Integration for Allegiance, and previously has held the positions of Director of Global Sourcing, Director of Materials Management Systems, Plant Manager and Senior Manufacturing Consultant. Al received his degree in Operations Management from Northern Illinois University and is a CPIM through the American Production and Inventory Control Society, (APICS).
Rajen Parekh, CFPIM
RajenParekh is a Project Manager at 3Com. Prior to joining 3Com, he was a Project Manager with US Robotics. He has over sixteen years of industry and consulting experience in manufacturing and implementing ERP/MRP II Enterprise Resources Planning and Manufacturing Resource Planning systems. Mr. Parekh has held a variety of operations and management positions in the manufacturing industry, marketing and consulting such as Applications Consultant,Management Consultant, Manager of Production and Inventory Control and Inventory Analyst. He is a Certified Fellow CFPIM of American Production and Inventory Control Society.
Lori Cook, Ph.D.
Dr. Cook is an Assistant professor of Operations management in Kellstadt Graduate School Of Business, DePaul University. She received her B.S., M.Eng. and Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Louisville. She previously taught at Southern Polytechnic State University in Marietta,Georgia. She also served as the coordinator for the Master of Science in Quality Assurance (MSQA) graduate program. In addition to teaching she has been involved in consulting and educational activities for various companies. She has held engineering positions with both Armco eastern Steel Division and Kentucky Fried Chicken Corporation. Her current research interests include quality and process improvement, quantitative research methods and operations strategy.
The Cost
Option One - The entire program must be paid for prior to the program start date, at a cost of $2,600.
Option Two - Individual modules may be taken for a fee of $1,000 each. Tuition is due at the start of the module.
Required textbooks and
materials are included. Tuition deferment options are no longer available.
Refunds will be granted on a pro-rated basis determined by the date the student withdraws from the program, less an administrative fee of $150.
