Zeta Sigma Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, International
Kim Amer's President Message
Welcome to Zeta Sigma! We have had a busy year with many exciting initiatives.
We need more involvement from the chapter members to continue the work that has begun.
The research funded by Grace Peterson, former chairperson of the department of nursing is listed below.
Research grants from the Grace Peterson Fund are available through the department of nursing by calling or emailing Christine Werdrick at 773-325-7280 or email: cwerdric@depaul.edu.
Safe Sitter Site at DePaul
Zeta Sigma became a Safe Sitter Site in 2003. Safe sitter is a non-profit organization established by a pediatrician who witnessed a colleague's child die due to the inability of the sitter to administer CPR. Three DePaul instructors were trained in September. There will be another instructor training in April at DePaul university. The date is April 16th at the Student Center at the Lincoln Park Campus. For more information please contact Kim at 773-325-1160 or email her.
Three safe sitter workshops to train sitters will be held in 2004. Teenagers between 11 and 15 years will spend two Saturdays learning about child development, safety, first aid, dealing with choking, and how to run a business. Details of dates and times will follow.
For more information about safe sitter visit the web site at www.safesitter.org
