Sources of Financial Data

The first source of data for analyzing a company is their income statement. This report shows the results of the firm's continuing operations. It shows the cumulative activity in revenue, expenses and profit or loss. The balance sheet shows the firm's assets, liabilities and capital accounts at a specific point in time. A balance sheet is like a snap shot of the company and its financial condition at the present time.
