Listed below are several ideas that may be pursued as part of the feasibility analysis project.  If a particular idea is of interest to you, feel free to partner up (can have groups of 2-3) by sending
an email to them.  See name of individual(s) and contact information (email address).

I would like do my project on an Online Tee-Time Reservation System. I plan to use a "Trojan Horse" business model by offering a value-added service to golf courses at no cost and in turn they have to allow me to become the middle man for their credit card transactions. An additional source of revenue will come from creating member profiles that can be used for target marketing both through web offers and banner ads.

My idea of a business I would like to explore would be to open a veterinarian clinic offering traditional medical and surgery services but with an emphasis on alternative and natural healthcare for small animals.  The market would be in Naperville or a similar local community.  I think the alternative care of acupuncture, chiropractic and herbs would be the niche market.  This is a real study and interest to me.  My fiancée is a practicing vet with these cert. and qualifications, but working for other clinic.  I would like to assist in a future startup of our own clinic and would like to see it grow as large as possible. Or possibly spin off others in the area of this field to fill other niches.

SendAPieceOfYou.com
Takes the torture out of keeping in touch while keeping it personal

The company would provide the unique service of allowing customers to order and design authentic, artistic cards and have them shipped to their homes.  Although e-cards have become quite popular, there is still something to be said for receiving a personal card…something tangible about receiving a card that you know someone spent time writing (or personally designing).  Many of the current cards on the market are one-dimensional and miss the point of sending a card in the first place—to let someone know that they are not forgotten.   SAPOY.com provides the public with a creative alternative to the normal card/postcard etc by allowing people to personalize their cards with ease while still maintaining the desired high quality and thought.

Standby Residential Generation

Standby generators provide a means of protecting your home from losses due to flooded basements, spoilage (refrigerators/freezers) and general inconvenience in the event of a power system failure.  Last summer, during a major heat wave, Commonwealth Edison experienced widespread losses of their distribution system due to an aging infrastructure.  I'd like to investigate the business opportunity for my firm to be a distributor, installer, and possible leasor of financier of standby units.

My idea for a venture is a logistics services company aimed at small to mid-size .com ventures.  This company would supply inbound and outbound logistics services to web based companies that require professional distribution and traffic management.  The idea is to serve consumer goods retailers and business to business shippers, although we would determine which market to target through the feasibility study.  We would operate in both a consultative and operational role for these shippers.

The project I would like to do my feasibility study on is a residential
construction business.  This would entail building houses from start to
finish: buying vacant property, general contracting the construction, and
selling the home.  The reason I would like to do this is that I am already
working with a few of my brothers on this project that we would like to have
started by June.  I have started some of the feasibility work already so
hopefully the work would not be too much if there is no one else in the
class interested in this project.

I will be going to Denver today until Sunday, if anyone else is interested
and they have any questions for me I can answer them on Monday.

My idea for the feasibility analysis is more of a lifestyle business
opportunity.  I would like to become a wedding consultant/realtor.  I
figure the combo would keep me busy and hopefully pay the bills!  So anyone
who is interested in either field would be a very welcome partner.

I also have an idea for anyone who is stuck and needs some help.  It's a
relatively new fad on the West Coast:  Doggie Day Care.  People drop off
their dogs at "day care" for the day so that they can get some exercise and
are not left alone all day.  A place called Yuppy Puppy has already started
consulting entrepreneurs who would like to start this venture.
Just an idea!

I have a few ideas I would like to investigate.

Pickup/dropoff day care service targeting to parents who
work out of the home and need to have some time alone to
get work done.  The main obstacle with traditional day
care is working within their constraints of committing
to paying for care for a 40 hour work week.

Salon to you, an in-home service for people who have a
difficult time fitting hair, nails, massage etc
appointments into their day.  The service would contract
with various salon professionals who are also looking
for alternative work schedules and bring these people to
your home at your convenience.

I would also still investigate my business ideas that I
suggested for the town of Elburn that is getting the
train in 2004, like a coffee shop.

My idea is to create a specialized education management service
targeting college-bound high school students.  Components of this
service may include individualized tutoring services, mentoring,
scholarship information, college information/tours, professional guest
speakers, and assistance with financial aid preparation.

Today, it is almost mandatory for new entrants to the workforce to have
a college education.  As the number of two-income households and
single-parent families continues to rise, parents are becoming less
involved with managing their children's scholastic success.  In
addition, overcrowding of classrooms and schools continues to lessen the
personal attention that teachers and guidance counselors can give to
their students.  The service that I am investigating will be aimed at
keeping children on track to succeed in high school and gain acceptance
to the college of their choice.

Here is an idea for a feasibility study.

The idea for my business is a sort of intellectual property consulting firm.
One thing that came to mind as all these people talk about entrepreaneurship is
that nobody has consider intellectual property.  When you have the Amazon.com
patenting single point and click ordering independent of code or virtual
companies patenting facilitated shopping, one thing is for sure, if you are
successful you will be potentially paying royalties to somebody.  I am a project
leader in a start up chemical venture.  I used a combination of competitive
intelligence and IP strategy to identify an opportunity that could  be
potentially quite valuable.  In addition, I have friends that are quitting their
corporate engineering jobs and going to start ups hoping to make it in a company
that plans to capitalize on the new technologies for bringing the internet into
your home.  When I ask them about patents they say, ?That is part of the
strategy.?  I say, what strategy!  That is like starting a real estate business
without land or a manufacturing venture with no land to build your building.
There are lots of companies that will patent good ideas but few that will help
the small players.  I look at this a being a low cost/quality supplier.  Cost to
file each patent will be important but each patent will, at least, create
defensive positions for these start ups.  We will do it for equity in the
company early on.  IP adds value in many ways. Some of those ways are.
1.   Excludes people from your products.  (traditional role)
2.   Blocks others (competitors).
3.   Adds to the stock multiplier.
4.   Once created it is a free asset with a potential tangible value.
5.   Defends you from litigation.
6.   Helps to design around.
7.   Can tell what your competitors are doing or what direction they are going.
I have been studying IP strategy for about 2 years now and have implemented
several projects based on an IP strategy.  This venture can take on many
nuances.  I would focus most likely on high growth industries.  We could hire
out of those industries to gain credibility.  I have written about 15 patents so
far and have used strategic use of IP to grow our business.  I think that you
might find this project very interesting if you choose to work with me.  If you
think this is something you are interested in let me know and I will get you
more fired up about it.  In addition, you will learn a skill that can be used in
your industry.
