Byrne Hall

The first president of DePaul University and one of the original founding fathers of DePaul (then called St. Vincent's College), Father Peter V. Byrne assumed his predidency in January of 1899 when the entire college was housed under one modest roof...a r emodeled church building. For the next ten years, Father Byrne helped the college grow and expand. By the end of his presidency, the first University in the State of Illinois had established. This building, formerly named the College Building and then Aca demy Hall was officially renamed and dedicated in honor of the Very Reverend Peter V. Byrne in 1976.
