An Introduction to XML

A tutorial prepared by Helen Martch for PSY 422

Human beings are extraordinarily capable of overcoming obstacles and resolving ambiguities and uncertanties. Computers do not have the same capabilities. In order for computers to present information, humans must give the computer precise instructions regarding what the information is and how to deal with it. Some methods of telling the computer how to handle information center on how the information is to be displayed. Other methods focus on what sort of information it is and how it relates to other pieces of information. This method is the method of XML.
